Gieseking & Leimer – Piano Technique

  • May 30, 2017

During my piano studies in Conservatory, I got the chance to try several piano techniques, thanks to the best teacher ever. Between them, the “Leimer – Gieseking” has been a fundamental building block. It required a lot of mental energy, but its effects on memory and focus were incredibly positive. And yes, you can learn piano by playing on a table, if you really need to…

(Leimer) shows the pupil how to hear himself. This critical self-hearing is, in my opinion, by far the most important factor in all of music study. Playing for hours without concentrating the thoughts and the ear on each note of the certain study in hand, is wasted time.
